Flooring, internal lining, and external cladding are regularly seasoned hardwood or softwood boards that are profiled with a tongue on one edge and matching groove on the other. The boards fit together and then fixed in place on. A wide range of species can be used, with the final selection dependant on the required appearance and performance of the completed surface. Flooring
Timber strip flooring and parquetry are ideal for a beautiful and long-lasting floor in the home, office, or other venues. Their warmth, strength and natural beauty has proved enduringly popular and they provide versatile, and easy to clean solutions, available in a range of product options to suit the project.
- Standard Strip Flooring is quality tongue and groove flooring, usually 19 mm thick in widths that range from 60 to 133 mm.
- Overlay Strip Flooring is quality tongue and groove flooring, usually 12 — 14 mm thick in widths that range from 60 to 112 mm.
- Pre-finished Engineered Flooring is made from layers of bonded timber with an attractive, hard wearing solid timber surface.
- Block Parquetry is pieces of solid timber ready to lay in a range of patterns and configurations.
- Finger Parquetry is smaller pieces of solid timber ready to lay sheets or with a mesh backing.
Strip flooring and parquetry products need to be installed with care over clean, dry and level support or surfaces. Once fixed or glued in place, they are sanded and coated. Prefinished products, such as Engineered Flooring, can be installed directly over a substate.
Flooring products are available in a range of species with the key selection criteria being appearance and resistance to wear in the selected application. Most Tasmanian producers manufacture and distribute a range of flooring products. Specialist flooring products and assemblies are also available to provide the ideal surface for sport and activities like dance and yoga.
Lining Products
Timber lining on walls or ceilings introduces warmth and beauty to a project and can be configured to compliment flooring, joinery and other interior surfaces in coherent spatial compositions. A wide range of species and configuration options are available in rough sawn, solid squared dressed or profiled boards of various thickness and width, or in veneered panels. Sawn boards can be spaced or veneered panels can be perforated, and CNC routed to moderate and improve the acoustic performance of a space.
Lining products are available in a range of species with the key selection criteria in most applications being colour and appearance. Many Tasmanian producers manufacture and distribute them.
Cladding Products
Timber cladding offers design freedom, ease of handling, and a range of naturally beautiful options to many projects. It can contribute to the design and appearance of a building that suit almost any environment, taste or style. Solid timber cladding boards can be produced as rough sawn and profiled boards for both horizontal and vertical applications. Modern finishes give a long lasting and attractive appearance to timber cladding and can be used to change the colour and style of the building, making it a versatile material that will keep pace with changing tastes and fashions.
Cladding products are available in a range of species with the board’s appearance, durability in an exposed location, and fire resistance in bushfire-prone areas being the key selection criteria. Care is required in detailing the material to shed water and dry out after it gets wet. Tasmanian species are generally unsuitable for application in contact with the ground or where they will be regularly wet.
